NOTE: Currently, if you have scheduled your Zoom meetings from within D2L as part of your course D2L site, your Zoom cloud recordings will automatically transfer over to that class' Panopto folder. Make sure you have gone to the Panopto class folder at least once by clicking the D2L Panopto link in the UA Tools navbar menu.

Background

By default, your Zoom cloud recordings will automatically transfer over to Panopto in your "My Folder\Meetings Recordings" location:

Setting up the Default Folder in Panopto

You can modify the default folder location for your Zoom cloud recordings at any time using these instructions:

  1. Log into your Panopto account (through D2L or Panopto)
  2. Click your name in the upper right corner
  3. Click the "User Settings" button
  4. A little further down the page, find the "Zoom Recording Import Settings"
  5. Where it says "Default Folder" click the Edit link
  6. Search for/Select a Panopto folder
  7. Click "Save"

PLEASE NOTE: All Zoom cloud recordings you make will go to this folder, including private meeting recordings. So, make sure you select a folder that is not visible to students or other users unless you want them to see all your Zoom cloud recordings. "My Folder" and "Meeting Recordings" are both only accessible to you and as such, it is recommended to leave the Default Folder as "Meeting Recordings."

Setting up the Panopto Folder Mappings for Your Zoom Meetings

PLEASE NOTE:

Your Zoom cloud recordings for your class will automatically go into your Panopto class folder if you schedule the Zoom meetings through the D2L Zoom interface for each class. Also, make sure you have clicked the UA Tools --> Panopto link at least once before you schedule your Zoom sessions. If you scheduled your meetings through the Zoom web portal, you will need to perform the following steps below.

You can also map Zoom Meeting IDs with specific Panopto class folders, so that your Zoom cloud recordings associated with your classes will copy to your Panopto class folders instead of your Default Folder. Here is how you do it:

  1. Before you begin, make sure you have scheduled the reoccurring Zoom meetings for your classes with your own Zoom account.
  2. Log into your Panopto account (through D2L or Panopto)
  3. Click your name in the upper right corner
  4. Click the "User Settings" button
  5. A little further down the page, find the "Zoom Recording Import Settings"
  6. Click the "Add New" link
  7. In the "Meeting ID" box, insert your Meeting ID from your Zoom meeting you scheduled in step 1. Make sure that you remove any spaces from the Meeting ID.
  8. In the drop-down box to the right of the Meeting ID, search for/select the Panopto class folder that corresponds to the Zoom meetings.
  9. Click the "Save" link

Note #1: You can repeat these steps for as many classes as you need. Just map each Zoom Meeting ID to each Panopto class folder.
Note #2: If you would like to keep things more organized, you can create a sub folder within your Panopto class folder called something like "Zoom Recordings" and use that as the target for the Meeting ID mapping.

Note #3: You must be the owner of the Zoom meetings (meaning the one who created them with your own Zoom account) and also have Creator permission on the Panopto folder you are targeting in order for this mapping to work.
